A longtime Claremore business owner is opening more doors within the community.

JLS Hair Co. owner Jamie Peckham is opening Claremore’s newest boutique – Presley Jay Boutique – in the Lilac District on Thursday.

“I have always wanted a boutique,” she said. “It’s kind of just been like a dream of mine to have one.”

The boutique will have a variety of items ranging from clothes and candles, to jewelry and accessories, to body lotion and bath bombs.

“We have so much stuff that we're waiting on, too – that should come in this week,” she said.

Peckham said it was important to have options for every body type and will have sizes ranging from 0-22 and XS-3X.

“Women are made of all sizes at every age,” she said.

Peckham said she wants women to be able to find something cute to wear and feel confident.

“I hope that it gives like a women a place where they can get adorable outfits at the right price,” she said.

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Peckham grew up in Locust Grove and moved to Claremore for a boy, who became her husband – Neil Peckham.

At 21, she opened JLS Hair Co. She expanded the business five years ago to include a spa.

Jamie said there was a small 300-square-foot space in her salon that she sold boutique items, but she wanted her place. She said she wanted to buy a building downtown.

“I just have not been able to find the right building,” she said. “So I thought, ‘you know what we might as well just get down there and get started.’”

The boutique is named after her two daughters: 3-year-old Presley and 7-year-old Jaylee.

“I am crazy excited,” she said. “And my I think it's like it's so fun to because my little girls have been so excited.”

Jamie said the biggest challenge of opening the boutique is having enough items that everyone will enjoy – because they are going from a 300-square-foot space to over a 1,000-square-foot space.

“I want to make sure that we're carrying enough to accommodate,” she said.

She said her husband, best friend of 12 years Regan Cox, and friend Lillian Barnshill have been a huge help.

“I feel like honestly, like, as of this moment, everything has fallen together so seamlessly,” she said. “I feel like super blessed in this moment.”

Barnhill is majoring in interior design at Clary Sage College and said she is super excited.

She said she’s enjoyed seeing Presley and Jaylee run around the shop and seeing their faces light up whenever they unbox items.

Barnhill said she thinks the shop will serve as a way to draw the younger crowd into the downtown area.

“Whenever I first started coming in working on this space, I totally had forgotten how beautiful downtown Claremore even was,” she said.

Presley Jay Boutique will be open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday; 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; and closed Sunday.
